The third one …

… two little pills the night before …
… two little pills the morning of …
… a last minute change of driver …
… such fabulous friends …
… bloods taken …
… my hand used …
… check in with my oncologist …
… he is really pleased with how I am travelling, as am I …
… bloods good …
… let’s go …
… pre-meds to stop nausea, extra pills to try to prevent the allergic reaction …
… sitting letting my little chemical friends flow through me …
… I go quiet, the second one starts, my friend has never seen me anxious, she is surprised and I am quieter, waiting …
… a burning warm in the back of my throat …
… I suddenly realise this is the first allergic reaction and has been every single time but this is the first time I have noticed and realised …
… then there is a pressing on my chest …
… each of these is vocalised to a hovering nurse …
… she turns off the drug, we wait …
… we give it another go …
… the pressing on my chest again, instantly …
… 5mls …
… allergic reaction the nurse is calling it …
… we stop …
… no pain, no back, hip, leg or shoulder spasms …
… so much better …
