The Banqueting Hall

The thing about London is the age of the built environment, it always astounds me. The stone stairs leading into the Banqueting Hall will have been walked on by Charles I … this leaves me somewhat gobsmacked, in the 1600s!!!
This was a beautiful hall, the information on display gave an understanding of the building of the hall, Charles I, Indigo Jones – what a name – and the use of the hall. The masques that were held there, in winter with hundreds of torches lighting up the hall, I can close my eyes and imagine.
Amazed to also read that Charles I was walked out of one of the windows of the Hall to the scaffold and beheaded! I need to know more!
